Overview
The Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care (CHC30113) is Australia’s most popular child care course, and is a nationally recognised and accredited Australian child care qualification. As an entry level qualification it is suitable for anyone wishing to work in childcare roles across Australia.
Our early childhood education and care course will teach you a range of skills designed to help you give young children the best start in life possible. Throughout the course you will learn how to ensure children’s health and safety while in a care environment, including promoting healthy eating, how to work effectively using learning and ethical frameworks, and how to support the physical and emotional wellbeing of children in your care.

Entry requirements
To participate in this course, you are required to:
- Complete and clear a Working with Children Check.
- Be 18 years or older
- Have sound language and literacy skills (at least Year 10 English, or equivalent)
- Have basic computer skills
- Obtain a Unique Student Identifier (USI)
Course requirements
To achieve a CHC30113 Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care, a total of 18 units of competency must be completed, 15 core units, plus 3 elective units along with the prescribed practical placement.
Work Placement
To achieve competency in this qualification, students are required to undertake 120 hours of supervised Work Placement. To complete this requirement participants, need to work alongside a regulated child care service which caters for children aged between 0-6 years of age. It is the participant’s responsibility to arrange this however we will provide support through this.
Course Structure
To promote holistic assessment, Unique College of Technology has combined the 18 units of competency into 6 clusters. The cluster approach is used to simplify and support understanding of course content by combining related units.

HLTAID004 Provide an emergency first aid response in an education and care setting

Units from the CHC30113 Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care are included in the CHC50113 Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care qualification. This means you can apply for credit for those units if you wish to continue on to Diploma training.
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is available to any participant who can provide evidence of competency for the units offered in the for the CHC30113 Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care. For more information, please contact our administrative team.
